Adopted supplementary planning documents (SPDs)

On Wednesday 24 July 2024 the Council adopted the Sustainability Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The SPD was implemented on Sunday 1 September 2024 and replaced the Sustainable Design and Construction SPD (2009) and superseded the Council’s Interim Sustainability Position Statement. The SPD is a material consideration in the determination of planning applications. 

The SPD supports the policies of the Borough Local Plan by setting out measures to design and construct new development to improve its environmental performance and reduce its environmental impact, including mitigating and adapting to climate change. The SPD aims to contribute towards attaining the Council’s commitment to delivering carbon reduction and improving biodiversity.
