The council’s Leader, Cllr Simon Werner, said: "I welcome the government’s commitment to transfer more power, decision-making and resources from Whitehall into the hands of local communities. For too long, councils have been expected to deliver local priorities with limited control over the funding and policy decisions that affect them.
