The election for the Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) was held last week, in which the Conservative Party candidate, Matthew Barber, was re-elected.

PCCs are elected representatives who oversee how crime is tackled in a police force area and aim to ensure the policing needs of communities are met.

West Berkshire Council had overall responsibility for running the PCC elections in our region, working with the 13 local authorities that make up the Thames Valley policing area, and the result was announced at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday 4 May.

PCC elections are held every four years and you can see a full regional breakdown of the votes cast in the Thames Valley area on the PCC elections results page.
