Community safety and crime

The main purpose of the community wardens' scheme is to reduce crime and disorder and link together all parts of the community, acting as a highly visible reassuring presence.

PSPOs are intended to deal with a particular nuisance or problem in an area that negatively affects the local community's quality of life by imposing restrictions on certain behaviours.

Tackling crime and disorder is not just the job of the police - we all need to play a part in making our communities safer.
