The Royal Borough’s mayor is hosting a charity dinner in aid of the Household Cavalry Foundation, his former Army regiment, on Friday 20 October – and tickets are now available for this special fundraiser at the historic Windsor Guildhall.
Councillor Neil Knowles, who has also been appointed the borough’s Armed Forces Champion, comes from a forces family and served himself in both the regular and reserved Army, including in The Life Guards, part of the regiment.
The Household Cavalry Foundation provides charitable and pastoral support to members of the Household Cavalry family – serving soldiers, operational casualties, veterans and their families. The Foundation also supports the heritage of the regiment and welfare of its retired horses.
Tickets to his special Armed Forces Dinner are available on a first-come-first-served basis for £65 each, including a drinks reception, meal and live music from the Band of the Household Cavalry – all in the magnificent surroundings of Windsor Guildhall.

Councillor Knowles said: “It’s an honour to be mayor and a double honour to be appointed the borough’s Armed Forces Champion, providing me with a unique platform to celebrate and support our serving armed forces personnel, veterans and cadets through hosting charitable events like this.
“While best known from horseback pageantry at ceremonial events, the Household Cavalry plays an active part in the UK’s defence and peace-keeping operations around the world. It also has historic links to Windsor. As a Windsor lad, I was proud to serve as part of the regiment, which always has a special place in my heart, and I take every opportunity to help my old regiment and give back.
“The Household Cavalry Foundation does fantastic work for those connected with the regiment. I look forward to joining with other residents, veterans, serving members of the armed forces, cadet forces and their families in the magnificent surroundings of Windsor Guildhall for a splendid evening in aid of a worthy cause.”
The Royal Borough has signed the Armed Forces Covenant and also achieved Gold Status in the Armed Forces Employer Recognition Scheme, recognising the employment-related support it gives to employees who are reservists and people leaving the forces who need help securing job roles or training.
