Biodiversity net gain

Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) is the process by which any major development that goes through the planning application process must deliver at least 10% net gain on the biodiversity baseline pre-development.

Our urban areas increasingly provide areas where biodiversity can thrive. New developments can contribute to enhancing local wildlife. This can be completed through the provision of biodiversity enhancements.

This guidance refers to species-specific enhancements, which may include nest boxes.

Enhancement Features

Bird and bat boxes should be integrated and woodcrete where possible to promote longevity of the enhancement. 

Proposed enhancements should be relevant to the site and surrounding environment. Guidance on enhancements that are frequently requested can be found below.

Bird and bat boxes should be integrated to be part of the development and of woodcrete construction where possible to promote longevity of the enhancement.
