Local development scheme timetable

Important note: the Council's Local Development Scheme from March 2025 has been superseded by the Local Plan Timetable published on Wednesday 24 June 2026. The timetable sets out the programme for preparation of the new local plan. The LDS is retained here for historical reference only.

The current LDS took effect on Thursday 6 March 2025 and covers the period 2025 to 2028. It states that over this period, the council will progress a new local plan. 

Please note:

The timetable shown in the Local Development Scheme (LDS) is only indicative and was based on the Government's new plan-making system being in place later in 2025.

The Government has announced changes to the plan-making system, but these changes have not yet come into effect and we are also waiting for further detail. Until the new rules and process are confirmed, we cannot set a revised timetable.  

We will update this page once the Government provides more details and the new system has come into effect.

There is no longer a requirement for LDS to include the timetables for Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs). Updates on the progress of SPDs, and also emerging Neighbourhood Plans, will be provided on the Council’s website.
