The Localism Act introduces statutory neighbourhood planning in England.
The neighbourhood plan was made part of the development plan for the area at the council meeting on Tuesday 29 April 2014. The plan was subject to a referendum on Thursday 27 March 2014. 91% of those voting in the referendum supported the adoption of the plan by the Royal Borough.

Cabinet has approved the designation of the parish as a Neighbourhood Area.
The Parish Council applied for the designation of the whole parish as a neighbourhood plan area (separate from Maidenhead). This application was the subject of a public consultation which ran from Monday 24 June until midnight on Sunday 4 August 2019.

An application was received by the Council from the proposed Maidenhead Neighbourhood Forum to designate the Maidenhead Neighbourhood Area and to formally designate the Maidenhead Neighbourhood Forum as the neighbourhood forum for the Maidenhead Neighbourhood Area. These applications were the subject of public consultation which ran from 25 October 2022 until 6 December 2022. On 22 December 2022 the Council decided to designate both the Maidenhead Neighbourhood Area as proposed and the Maidenhead Neighbourhood Forum. Please see supporting documents below:
