New Local Plan

We are preparing a new Local Plan to guide development, safeguard our environment, and support sustainable growth across the borough.

New local plan: Scoping Consultation

We are at the very beginning of preparing the new local plan and want to know:

  • what matters the Plan should address, and
  • how we can engage with you in preparing the Plan.

We are holding a ‘Scoping Consultation’ to ask these questions. The consultation runs from Thursday 30 July 2026 to Sunday 13 September 2026

Please go to the Council’s online consultation platform to find out more about how and why we are preparing the new Plan, some of the key topics and issues we may need to consider, and to fill in a questionnaire to help us better understand your views.

You can read the full formal Notice of Scoping Consultation.

While we would strongly encourage you to complete the questionnaire online, you may wish instead to send us separate representations about the matters the Plan should address and how we can engage with you, by writing to us at:

planning.consultation@rbwm.gov.uk;

or in hard copy to: Planning Policy Team, Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead SL6 1RF.

All representations must be received by the Council by 23.59 on Sunday 13 September 2026.

At the same time we are also running a “Call for Sites” exercise. This is an opportunity for you to suggest sites for a range of different uses, including for housing and economic development, but also sites for other uses such as for community uses, renewable energy provision and biodiversity improvements.

To find out more and to complete a site suggestions form go to our online consultation platform. Please submit your site suggestions by 23.59 on Sunday 13 September 2026.
