Submitted 2025/2026
Presented by: Mandy Smith - Petition submitted Thursday 21 August 2025
Lead Officer: Alysse Strachan - Assistant Director of Neighbourhood Services / Tim Golabek - Service Lead, Transport, Highways and Parking
Petition: We, the undersigned, petition the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to act under the provisions of the Local Government Act 2000 and the Council’s statutory duty to promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people, as well as its obligations under the Highways Act 1980, the Education Act 1996, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Holyport College is located on Ascot Road (A330) — a high-speed, 40mph road that currently lacks: 1) A continuous pedestrian footway 2) Dedicated cycle infrastructure 3) Adequate and enforceable traffic calming or crossing measures. This road presents a clear and ongoing danger to pupils and other vulnerable road users who attempt to access the school on foot or by bicycle. A short 20mph zone exists near the entrance, but there is no effective enforcement, and compliance is minimal.
Update: This petition was submitted to the relevant lead officer. Further updates will be provided as received.

Presented by: Simon Jupp - Petition submitted Friday 4 July 2025
Lead Officer: Neil Walter - Parking Principal / Tim Golabek - Service Lead, Transport, Highways and Parking
Petition: We, the undersigned, petition the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to extend the double yellow lines on Maidenhead Road (turning right out of Westwood Green towards Maidenhead, up to Honey Cottage). There is an ongoing consultation by the Council to extend the double yellow lines on Maidenhead Road at the Westwood Green junction. The current proposal is to extend the double yellow lines turning right out of Westwood Green towards Maidenhead by a further 50.49 metres (roughly up to the entrance of Honey Cottage). The purpose of the proposed extension is to increase the visibility for pedestrians at the Westwood Green / Park House Nursery crossing. There have been concerns raised by local residents and parents at the nursery that visibility at this crossing is extremely poor due to the presence of cars/vans parked on Maidenhead Road near the crossing which restricts the ability to see oncoming traffic. This creates a danger for people crossing the road, particularly those with small children going to/from the nursery.
Update: The lead officer proposed a resolution which was accepted by the lead petitioner. The relevant ward councillors also agreed to the proposal. The lead officer has agreed for works to commence, which he advised would occur within 12 weeks. Further updates will be provided as received.

Presented by: Caroline Matthews - Petition submitted Monday 2 June 2025
Lead Officer: Anthony Bettany-Jones – Traffic Safety Manager / Tim Golabek - Service Lead, Transport, Highways and Parking
Petition: We, the undersigned, petition the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to consider the issue of over-taking and speeding at pick-up and drop-off times, and the near misses which occur on an almost weekly basis outside White Waltham C of E Primary School. Mindful of this, it would be prudent for the council to look into installing speed bumps and/or cameras and also 'Children Crossing' signage both outside, and in the immediate vicinity, of the school.
Update: The lead officer has written to the lead petitioner offering to set up a meeting or alternatively provide a written response to the petition. Further updates will be provided as received.

Presented by: Jon Davey - Petition submitted Thursday 22 May 2025
Lead Officer: Alysse Strachan - Assistant Director of Neighbourhood Services
Petition: We, the undersigned, petition the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to discontinue long term contracts for the eastern half of Alexandra Gardens preventing public access to the lawns.
Mental health is a massive issue in 2025 with social media demanding our attention every 5 seconds. Residents need Alexandra Gardens back for the people of Windsor to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy some mindfulness.
Random weekend usage for big events that pay a full licence fee, or no fee if a community event, is great but 3 month contracts to any single contractor, allowing them to dominate the public space to the eastern half of Alexandra Gardens should be discouraged and discontinued.
Update: This petition was submitted to the relevant lead officer. Further updates will be provided as received.

Presented by: Roy John Reeves - Petition submitted Wednesday 14 May 2025
Lead Officer: Tim Golabek - Service Lead, Transport, Highways and Parking
Petition: We, the undersigned, of Ascot, Sunningdale, Sunninghill, Cheapside, Windsor Great Park and especially Queen’s Gate Cottages that use the number one bus, do not consent to the changes being made to the number one bus route that has existed for the last 75 years.
The new route has been altered to cater to the needs of the people of Dedworth so they can get to their appointments even though they have 2 other buses, the numbers 2 and 16, leaving we, the undersigned, with difficulty to get to and from our appointments, exercise classes, shopping and social events due to the reduced schedule.
The new incoming timetable will impact our lives negatively, and we were not consulted on this matter. We are shocked and upset that the needs of the people from Dedworth are being catered for further at the expense of our needs.
We are asking that you at least keep the 9 am bus so we can get into town earlier than the new proposed 10.30 am arrival which does not suit anyone, and can return by 11.55 am as it always has been, waiting around town for 3 hours for the return bus is not acceptable.
The people of Queen’s Gate need a bus on Saturdays, you can NOT expect us to walk all the way to the end of Kings Road, and carry heavy shopping back from there, especially when it rains and the road is flooded, many of us are unable to walk that distance.
Update: Officers have been working with the lead petitioner to come to a resolution. Discussions are ongoing. The following improvements have been confirmed: -
1) A new timetable has been agreed, meaning that on Saturdays from Saturday 6 September 2025, the bus will run all its journeys via Queen Anne’s Cottages, and no longer through Old Windsor. Small amendments to the weekday timetable have also been made to better reflect traffic conditions with a view to helping the bus keep to the published times.
2) The benches at the bus stop outside Windsor Parish Church have been repaired.
