Trees and woodlands are an essential part of the borough’s character and identity. They help to breathe life into the area, providing a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Trees may be considered by some as being too large for many reasons.
Large trees make people concerned for their safety or because they feel the tree would be better placed growing in the countryside because the perception is that it is a 'forest' tree. Simply because a tree is large, doesn't make it unsafe.
The Council is committed to undertaking inspections and carrying out appropriate works for health and safety reasons. In urban areas larger trees tend to provide enhanced benefits compared to smaller ones and therefore have a key place in our towns and villages.
