Large item collections

Dispose of unused or unwanted household items that are too large or too heavy for our normal waste collection.

Please ensure that you read the terms and conditions prior to booking a collection.

Before requesting a collection, please make sure:

  • Your item is on the list of large items that can be collected.
  • Your item can be left in a suitable place for collection.
  • You have read and understood the terms and conditions.
  • Any food appliances are emptied of all food.

Items we collect

We do not collect any glass items or mirrors - if you have a sideboard with glass doors you must remove them before collection.

We can only collect the following items, and any item must be able to be lifted by a maximum of two people:

  • Armchair.
  • Bed (can include mattress and headboard).
  • Cabinet, bookcase, shelf unit.
  • Carpet, rug, underlay (per room).
  • Chest of drawers.
  • Coat stand.
  • Computer monitor.
  • Cooker.
  • Cot.
  • Desk.
  • Dining chair (table and four chairs classed as five items),
  • Dishwasher.
  • DVD player.
  • Electric radiator.
  • Footstool.
  • Fridge-freezer or single fridge/freezers – note: we do not collect American style fridge/freezers.
  • HiFi Music system.
  • Hoover/vacuum cleaner.
  • Ironing board.
  • Mattress.
  • Microwave, air-fryer, mixer.
  • Printer.
  • Rocking chair
  • Sofa (three-piece suite classed as three items).
  • Standalone computer (please remove personal information).
  • Standard lamp.
  • Table (Table and four chairs classed as five items).
  • Television.
  • Tumble dryer or spin dryer.
  • Video player
  • Wardrobe.
  • Washing machine.   

 

Items we cannot collect

For items not accepted for large item collection, please take these to our Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Stafferton Way

Items we cannot accept:

  • Any hazardous materials.
  • American style fridges and freezers.
  • Boilers.
  • Building/DIY waste, including all bathroom furniture, kitchen cupboards and sinks, fireplaces, radiators and skirting boards.
  • Car batteries.
  • Car parts.
  • Clinical waste.
  • Commercial fridges and freezers.
  • Doors (internal and external).
  • Duvets and pillows - these can be placed in a black sack and put out with your weekly rubbish.
  • Fence posts.
  • Fluorescent tubes.
  • Garden waste.
  • Gas canisters.
  • Glass items.
  • Glass greenhouses.
  • Mirrors.
  • Mobility scooters.
  • Oil drums.
  • Pianos.
  • Paint/liquids.
  • Sheds.
  • Sun beds.
  • Soil.
  • Rubble.
  • Tiles.
  • Tyres.

Charges

There is a charge for this service: If you are in receipt of housing benefit a reduction fee is available.

  • One item: £47.00.
  • Two items: £55.00.
  • Three items: £63.00.
  • Four items: £70.00.
  • Five items (maximum): £78.00.
  • Fridges / Freezers: £52.00 per unit.
