Lawful basis for processing the information
Article 6 (1)(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation- processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.
- Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970.
- Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
- Disabled Persons' Parking Badges Act 2013.
- Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) (England) Regulations 2000 (and subsequent amendments).
- The Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2019.
How we collect information
Information is collected from you (or your guardian if you are younger than 16 years old) using an online form on our website. Alternatively, we can collect this information from you over the phone or in person through customer services or our Library services.
What information is collected
The information we collect from you includes: name, date of birth, disability, gender, address, telephone number, and eligibility for qualifying benefits like Personal Independence Payments or Disability Living Allowance, information from doctors or medical professionals around disability, and photograph of badge holder.
If your application is successful, we will also require your payment details.
How we use the information provided
This information will be used to assess your eligibility for a blue badge within the Windsor and Maidenhead Borough and to take payment if your application is accepted.
Who has access to the information about you
The RBWM Parking Team and our customer service supervisors have access to your information for the purposes of manging applications and administration of blue badges. In limited circumstances, this information may be shared with our Adult Social Services for the purpose of verification.
Whom we may share your information with
We will only share your information with third parties when necessary for the purposes of issuing and managing your blue badge. These partner agencies, include:
- Our Partner Children's Services (Achieving for Children).
- ValTech/APS UK Ltd - For production, printing and postage of blue badges.
- Police for parking enforcement purposes (security) and the prevention and detection of crime.
- RBWM Financial Control: If you make payments online or self-service kiosks, we will share the information you enter with RBWM Financial Control department to process your payments.
- Our Parking Services NSL for parking enforcement matters.
We will also provide your information if required under statutory duty or as required by law.
How long we store your information
Your blue badge data will be held for a maximum of seven years after your badge is surrendered or has expired without you renewing.
If your application is unsuccessful, all medical information will be deleted after one month of us informing you of this outcome. We will maintain your basic information for statistical purposes only but no longer than two years.
