Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement sets out a clear and consistent approach to involving people in planning, both the preparation of certain planning policy documents and in relation to planning applications. However, recent changes in legislation mean that the Council no longer has to prepare a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). In relation to the preparation of certain planning policy documents, notably local plans and supplementary planning documents, the current SCI is now out of date and refers to legislation that is no longer in force. As such the Council is no longer applying the elements of the SCI relating to local plans and supplementary planning documents.

As part of early work on preparing a new local plan, the Development Plan for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, the Council is preparing a Community and Stakeholder Engagement Strategy to set out how people can get involved in the preparing of the new plan. This will effectively replace the local plan part of the SCI. When this is finalised, this will be available on our New Local Plan page.

The Council will review the section of the SCI relating to planning applications, but until it does the approach set out in the SCI still applies.
