Planning applications and highways

Any planning applications where there could be highway issues are assessed in terms of highway safety issues.

Planning new estate roads

Where a planning application includes new estate roads, the design must comply with the council's Highway Design Guide below.

Designs should also comply with the Government's Manual for Streets.

Before starting construction, developers are asked to enter into an agreement and put up a bond to cover the full cost of road construction.

Alternatively, developers will be required to make a deposit with the council under the Advanced Payments Code.
