Bookstart is a national programme giving free books to parents and carers. Bookstart packs help you and your child discover the joy of reading books.
All babies born in the UK, and aged 0-12 months, are entitled to a Bookstart Baby pack. This is usually given at the 6 week health check, but can be collected from your local library.
Other packs that are offered:
- Bookstart Toddler (1-2 year old pack, given at the 1 year check)
- Bookstart Pre-schooler (3-4 year old pack, given at your child's nursery or early years setting)
- Additional Needs packs (Bookstart Shine for children who are deaf, Bookstart Touch for children who have a visual impairment and Bookstart Star for children with conditions affecting their fine motor skills).
- Dual language books
