Private Hire Operator licences are required by individuals or firms taking bookings for the hire of private hire vehicles. The law requires that operators must be licensed by the same authority licensing the vehicles and drivers working within their control.
New applicants will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before an Operator Licence can be issued. Current licence holders are required to have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check every three years.
