Food safety concern or enquiry

Our role in investigating food complaints is to establish how the issue arose to prevent a recurrence. An investigation may involve obtaining further information and assistance from the complainant, visiting the implicated premises and determining a cause. On occasion, we may not be able to identify a root cause that led to the complaint.

You can contact us to report a local food business for any of the following concerns:

  • Food is not cooked as expected or raw.
  • Poor food hygiene practices.
  • A foreign object in your food.
  • Condition and cleanliness of premises and facilities.

If you suspect that your food is not cooked as expected, in order to help the investigation, keep the food in its original packaging and store in the fridge or freezer. Keep the receipt if you have it.

For foreign object complaints - If you have found something in your food which should not be there, please keep hold of it as it may help us in an investigation.
