Stafferton Way Car Park set to reopen following major investment

Stafferton Way Car Park in Maidenhead is set to reopen following a significant programme of investment to improve security, safety and overall environment for customers.

The multi-storey car park will reopen on Monday 12 October following a £463,000 capital investment in a comprehensive refurbishment programme designed to protect the asset for the future and provide a safer, more welcoming experience for residents, commuters and visitors.

Stafferton Way Car Park was temporarily closed earlier this year after sustained vandalism and damage made parts of the facility unsuitable for public use. The refurbishment programme has focused on improving safety for users, as well as measures aimed at deterring vandalism in the future. A new CCTV network has been installed throughout the building, while additional security measures have been fitted to service areas to prevent unauthorised access.

Additionally, other improvements have been implemented to help improve the car park for users, including:

  • Replacement of all lighting with energy efficient lighting controlled by smart sensors.
  • Repainting of parking bay marks and kerbstones to improve the appearance and usability of the car park.
  • A new fire alarm system installed throughout the building to increase safety.

Some minor redecoration activity will continue over the next few weeks and will be managed to minimise any disruption to users.

Cabinet Member for Corporate Services, Transformation and Asset Management, Cllr Chris Moriarty, said: “As we continue to see more businesses invest in Maidenhead, it’s important that our infrastructure keeps pace and provides the high-quality facilities that residents and visitors expect. The improvements at Stafferton Way Car Park demonstrate our commitment to protecting and enhancing our assets for the long term – ensuring our borough remains an attractive place to live, work and do business.”

Cabinet Member for Highways, Customer Services, Libraries and IT, Cllr Geoff Hill, said: "Stafferton Way Car Park is a vital parking facility serving residents, commuters and visitors. The extensive works carried out have significantly improved security, safety and the overall customer experience. We're pleased to welcome customers back to a facility that is better equipped to meet the needs of our community now and into the future."
