Satisfaction with adult social care rises as Royal Borough delivers major service improvements

Residents have reported high levels of satisfaction with adult social care services in the Royal Borough, as a new report highlights improvements in quality of life, independence and overall experience.

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has published a new report detailing improvements made within adult social care services over the past year. The report highlights that 89.3% of service users are satisfied with their care and support according to the most recent Adult Social Care survey - placing the service above national averages and reflecting sustained progress over the past year.

The results form part of a wider improvement update following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in November 2024, which recognised that the service is close to achieving a ‘Good’ rating.

Over the past year, the council has delivered a wide-ranging transformation programme to improve services for residents, carers and families. Improvements delivered include:

  • Better support for carers – including the launch of a new online hub, making it easier to access advice, information and support.
  • Faster hospital discharge – the council’s ‘home first’ model helping residents return home safety and quickly, maintaining zero delayed discharges.
  • Earlier help and prevention – expanding community-based support and digital tools so residents can access help sooner and remain independent for longer.
  • New digital systems – including a new case management system, and AI tools to reduce paperwork and allow staff to spend more time supporting people directly.
  • Stronger workforce – improving stability with around three-quarters of staff now in permanent roles, reducing the reliance on agency workers.

While the report highlights strong progress, it also recognises areas of continued focus and improvement including strengthening safeguarding, reducing waiting times, and providing more personalised care options.

Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Planning & Governance, Cllr Adam Bermange, said: “These results show that the work we are doing to transform and improve Adult Social Care in the Royal Borough is making a real difference for residents. We are not only expanding the support available, but also making sure services are delivered more efficiently, effectively and with a strong focus on individual needs.

“While we are proud of the progress made, we recognise that there is always room for further improvement. We are continuing to strengthen our services so that every resident can access high-quality care, and live healthy and independent lives in supportive communities.”
