Royal Borough unveils flagship facility for residents experiencing homelessness

A flagship housing facility has opened in Maidenhead this month, marking one of the most significant investments in homelessness support within the Royal Borough in recent years.
John West House

John West House in Maidenhead is set to support residents facing homelessness by providing high-quality emergency accommodation and nearby access to support services.

Following a major refurbishment of a previously vacant site, John West House provides a seven-bed hostel for former rough sleepers, alongside twelve self-contained emergency accommodation units. Additionally, the facility includes dedicated office space and is located close to support services.

The development forms part of a wider transformation of housing services within the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead that aims to address increasing local demand. By boosting the availability of accommodation within the borough, John West House will enable more residents to stay closer to their families, jobs and support networks while receiving support, reducing immediate need for out-of-area placements.

Cabinet Member for Housing Services, Housing Delivery and Health, Cllr Catherine del Campo, said: “John West House marks a major step forward in how we support residents experiencing homelessness.

“The new facility brings together safe, high-quality accommodation with the support people need to move forward. The opening of John West House is about more than just providing a roof over someone’s head, but creating a supportive environment where residents can begin to rebuild their lives.”
