The Educations Standards Report, set to be presented at the Royal Borough’s cabinet meeting later this month, evaluates the academic performance and quality of schools within the borough. The report reveals educations services have continued to maintain high standards and are beating national averages in a variety of areas.
The report showcases how students are performing highly at every stage of their education, highlights include:
• 92% of schools rated “good” or higher for quality of education - compared to 83% national average.
• 71% of early years pupils achieved ‘a good level of development’ compared to 68% nationally.
• In Key Stage 4 (GCSE), 68% of pupils achieved Grade 4+ in English and Maths compared to 64.5% nationally.
These improvements have been driven through ongoing work by the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to help give young people the best start in life. Support and training for staff around SEND has been strengthened with networks established to offer coaching and peer reviews.
Additionally, the council has been working to further support students from disadvantaged backgrounds with a strategic ‘quality first’ teaching approach, which includes instructional coaching for teachers and additional training for teaching assistants. This additional support has driven a 9% increase for student achievement at Key Stage 2 from last year.
Councillor Amy Tisi, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Education and Windsor, said: “These results reflect the hard work of our students and the dedication of our schools. Every child deserves an education that sets them up for the future and we will continue to build on the excellent progress shown in this report, so that every young person in the borough has the best possible start in life.”
The Education Standards Report is set to be presented at a meeting of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead’s Cabinet on Tuesday 27 April. Read the full report online here.
