Architectural tours to launch year of events in RBWM libraries

A series of guided architectural tours at Maidenhead Library will open an exciting year of events across all Royal Borough libraries.

The architectural tours are the first feature of the borough’s Explore Your Library series of events, which will run throughout 2026. Over the coming months, residents will be encouraged to explore their local libraries to learn more about the services available across all 14 branches, from books and digital collections to study spaces, IT support and activities for families, young people and adults.

This will be followed by an exhibition later in the year, organised in collaboration with the Windsor Photographic Society, compiling a collection of photographs that capture the Grade II listed building’s modernist architecture and the everyday moments.

Cllr Geoff Hill, Cabinet Member for Highways, Customer Services, Libraries and IT, said: “This is a fantastic way to begin an exciting year for our libraries. The exhibition and architectural tours will celebrate both the striking architecture of Maidenhead Library and what libraries mean to people today – places to explore, connect and find inspiration. We hope residents will come and see the exhibition and discover, or rediscover, everything their local library can offer.”

The launch coincides with the Government’s National Year of Reading 2026, led by the Department for Education and the National Literacy Trust.

Further updates about all upcoming events will be shared on the RBWM website
