The strategy, a road map setting out how the council plans to support healthier living for all residents, also details where borough communities need extra support.
With the strategy due to launch early next year, residents and voluntary organisations are urged to share their feedback as part of an online consultation running from Monday 13 October until Sunday 7 December.
Through four key themes, the strategy aims to address the different health and wellbeing needs of the borough’s residents and communities. These are:
- Best start in life: focusing on school readiness, mental health and wellbeing, healthy weight, oral health and healthy adolescence.
- Living well: covering cardiovascular disease prevention, oral health, screening and immunisation and healthy behaviours.
- Healthy ageing: promoting independence, screening and early intervention, as well as digital inclusion, loneliness and isolation.
- Healthy place: supporting active travel, healthy housing, planning infrastructure and licensing, sustainable healthy environments, health at work.
This follows partnership working with Frimley ICB, Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Achieving for Children, WAM Get Involved, Healthwatch, and Slough CVS to develop the strategy.
The Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Heath and Housing Services, Cllr Catherine del Campo, said: "This strategy sets out our shared ambitions for the next decade. It is led by evidence-based data plus insight from our residents, communities and partners whose lived experiences and local knowledge are key.
“Although our borough appears to have higher life expectancy and better average incomes compared to other local authorities nationally, we do have areas of significant need leading to health and wellbeing inequalities. It’s key that we get the views of as many people and organisations as we possibly can.”
