AskSARA, a new online self-assessment tool, offers quick, personalised advice on equipment and technology to make everyday tasks easier. Covering more than 90 topics, the tool guides users through a simple set of questions and generates a tailored report with impartial recommendations. It’s free to use, doesn’t require sign-up, and doesn’t collect personal data. The tool is designed to be accessible and user-friendly, with support available at local libraries for those who need help getting online.
Councillor Catherine del Campo, The Royal’s Borough’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Health and Housing Services, said: “AskSARA is a brilliant example of how partnership working can deliver real benefits for our communities.
“By joining forces with Slough Borough Council, we’re making best use of the funding available to us to give people the expert advice they need to stay independent for longer and make informed choices about their wellbeing. It’s simple, free-to-use, and puts residents in control.”
AskSARA has been funded by the Department of Health and Social Care’s Accelerating Reform Fund, and the system has been developed by Living Made Easy, part of the Shaw Trust – a national charity supporting people with complex needs. Advice is created by qualified Occupational Therapists, so users can be confident they’re receiving trusted guidance. If the tool identifies that someone may benefit from further assessment, it will signpost them to appropriate support.
