Citizenship ceremonies

Citizenship ceremonies have now recommenced. We are currently offering short, individual appointment-style ceremonies to ensure the safety of our staff and the public.

Once you have received your citizenship invitation letter, please email registrar@rbwm.gov.uk giving your name and phone number, we then contact you and advise you of the available appointments at Maidenhead Register Office.


For details of how to apply to become a British Citizen, please contact the Home Office.

When an applicant receives their letter of approval from the Home Office they should contact the Register Office to obtain details of which ceremony they may attend.

Applicants are required to attend a ceremony within three months of the approval being given otherwise they may have to make a new application.

It is also possible to arrange an individual or small group ceremony, an additional fee is chargeable for this facility.

The costs for a private citizenship ceremony are:

  • Monday - Friday : £165.00 per person / £309.00 per couple or family.
  • Saturday : £309.00 per ceremony (individual/couple or family).
