Skin Piercing

Anyone carrying out the practices of acupuncture, electrolysis, ear piercing and tattooing (including semi-permanent skin colouring and microblading) must register themselves and their premises.

They must also follow and comply with local bylaws to ensure that the procedures, equipment and facilities used are safe, hygienic, prevent the spread of disease and comply fully with the general duty of care required by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

This registration only relates to the activities mentioned above. We do not currently register or license any other special treatment or beauty activity such as laser or UV light treatment, Botox, dermal fillers or body piercing.

However please be aware that although these procedures do not require registration, the premises may still be subject to a health and safety inspection by an officer.

A fee is payable for the registration of the premises and the applicant. Any additional practitioners will need to be registered separately. Once we receive your submitted application form, we will contact you to arrange an inspection.

Please see the Commercial Services fees and charges web page for the relevant fees. We are no longer able to process cheques and payment can only be made using the payment facility on the form below.

To register and pay the appropriate fee, please complete the online special treatments application form.

Please note: Only the activities stated above require registration, please do not register a treatment that is not required as you will be charged unnecessarily.
