Air Quality Annual Status Reports (ASRs)

The Annual Status Report (ASR) provides an overview of air quality in the Royal Borough.

It fulfils the requirements of Local Air Quality Management (LAQM) as set out in Part IV of the Environment Act (1995), as amended by the Environment Act (2021), and the relevant Policy and Technical Guidance documents.

The ASR is an annual requirement showing the latest implementation progress to improve air quality and the air quality monitoring results. The ASR is published in late Summer every year. The most recent versions can be found in the download below.

Air Quality Management Strategy (AQMS)

The Management Strategy outlines planned actions the Royal Borough is delivering to improve air quality.

The Royal Borough declared five Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs), for exceedance of the annual mean objective for nitrogen dioxide, in Windsor (two areas), Maidenhead, Bray (near M4) and Wraysbury (near M25).

Following the achievement of the required consecutive years of compliance with the air quality objectives the AQMAs were revoked in May 2025 and replaced with the AQMS.

The AQMS has been developed in accordance with Local Air Quality Management (LAQM) Policy (PG22) and Technical Guidance (TG22), following the revocation of the Borough’s AQMAs.

The AQMS outlines planned actions that the Royal Borough is delivering to reduce concentrations of air pollutants and exposure to air pollution; thereby positively impacting on the health and quality of life of residents and visitors to the local area.
