I am writing to raise serious concerns about reports that the Church Commissioners may be considering residential development of approximately 220 homes on Cemetery Field, Cookham.
This land is Green Belt and lies between Long Lane, Maidenhead Road, Switchback Road and the northern edge of Furze Platt.
I understand from FOI response FOI001716, dated 22 May 2025, that no formal pre-application advice request had been received for this parcel between 2020 and May 2025.
Please confirm whether any planning application, outline application, screening request, site promotion, or other formal proposal has since been submitted or registered for this land, including under an alternative site description or landowner name.
I also ask RBWM to clarify:
1. whether this land is being considered for housing through the Local Plan process;
2. whether any proposal involves the release of Green Belt land;
3. whether the claimed arrangement involving additional cemetery or ashes land and residential development has been brought to RBWM’s attention;
4. how residents will be notified and able to comment if a planning application is submitted.
I object in principle to the loss of this Green Belt land and ask that the effects on traffic, infrastructure, ecology, drainage, landscape, local services and schools
Not to mention extra sewage / water, putting a further strain on an inadequate infer-structure.
The building of houses has already started off the switchback
And to be built on The Strand and the old gas works
