I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
I am seeking information on expenditure incurred by the council in relation to asylum seekers accommodated within the local authority area.
For the financial year 2024–25, please provide:
1.    Any recorded expenditure by the council on services provided specifically to asylum seekers, where this is separately identifiable in your accounting records.
2.    Expenditure incurred in relation to asylum seekers under the following service areas, where recorded or reasonably extractable:
a) Temporary accommodation or homelessness support
b) Adult social care
c) Children’s services, including unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC)
d) Public health services
e) Interpretation, translation, or community support services
3.    Any internal assessments, estimates, or reports produced by the council which quantify or estimate the cost of supporting asylum seekers.
4.    Any funding received from central government in relation to asylum seekers over the same period (including but not limited to the Asylum Dispersal Grant or UASC funding).
5.    The number of asylum seekers accommodated within the local authority area during 2024–25, where this information is held.
a) If possible, please provide this as an average (e.g. average number accommodated during the year) or a point-in-time figure.
b) If the council does not hold a precise figure, please provide any estimates, internal reports, or data used for service planning purposes.
If it is not possible to provide a total figure, please provide the information in the most disaggregated form available.
If any part of this request would exceed the cost limit under Section 12, please provide advice and assistance under Section 16 as to how the request could be refined.
