FOI001183 FOI Highways

The above contract for £1.3million has started work and I see from the Council’s Constitution that contracts of this size need at least 5 companies tendering and final approval of contract assessment is by Cabinet only.  

My FOI request is for confirmation of the number of tenders received for this work and when Cabinet approved the successful contractor.

Also, my understanding is that , annual maintenance contractor, Volker Highways are carrying out this contract and that their contract has been extended twice.  Under the Council’s Constitution my understanding is that the first extension is permitted as it was an option built into the original contract but any further extensions are not permitted.  Is this correct.
