It’s likely that traffic flows on local roads will increase while Cookham Bridge is closed. The project team has been working with all affected Highway Authorities (Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Buckinghamshire Council and Highways England) to develop a suitable diversion route for all vehicles that currently use Cookham Bridge.
Advanced Warning Signs will be erected to advise motorists of the closure which will also be added to smart satnavs such as Google Maps and Waze, which should then follow the diversion.
Pre-existing traffic issues on local roads will be monitored and if necessary, additional mitigation may be considered by the relevant Highway Authority.
