Councillor Andrew Johnson, leader of the council, said: "We remain on the cusp of entering Tier 2; the number of COVID-19 cases in the Royal Borough remain high. During the week 12-18 October we had an additional 213 cases taking us to 140.7 cases per 100,000 population.
"We will keep the situation under constant review and any decisions on further restrictions will be based upon following the data, expert advice of our dedicated public health professionals and liaison with government.
“Further restrictions would impact on our freedoms, our community and our local businesses. We all want to be able to continue seeing our loved ones and friends indoors. We want to protect businesses from more restrictions too. You can support your local business by doing your bit to stop the spread.
“Remember to wash your hands regularly, wear a face covering where appropriate and keep space between yourself and those not in your household – this is particularly important if you have visitors or if you visit other homes. You must not meet in a group of more than six, indoors or outdoors, and if you have symptoms please self-isolate and get a test.
"Please share this message and encourage your friends and family to do their bit. Help keep everyone safe."
