Electric vehicle charging at home

Table of Contents

If you own a dedicated space to park away from the road, such as a driveway or private parking space, there are many companies that offer chargepoint installation on your property that will enable you to charge your electric vehicle while it is parked there. The government's Office for Zero Emission Vehicles offers an EV Chargepoint Grant which can reduce the cost of installing a chargepoint on your property for households that meet their eligibility criteria.

Not every household has access to off-street parking. There are a growing number of chargepoints around the borough in public places that can be used by anyone, all listed on Zap Map. This includes chargepoints that have been introduced with funding support from the council and the government, to accelerate rollout. Increasingly this includes chargepoints in residential areas where residents park on-street, and the council is preparing an Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Infrastructure Plan to identify how deployment of chargepoints around the borough can be further accelerated and reach all parts of the borough that need it.

Survey: demand for future on-street chargepoints

If you are have, or are thinking about purchasing, an electric vehicle, and you do not have your own off-street parking, you can complete our survey on the link below, to let us know that you would benefit from a public chargepoint near your property.

We are collecting and using this information to understand where there is demand for new chargepoints in the borough. This helps us to identify neighbourhoods which have the greatest demand for chargepoints, helping us to plan and prioritise where we look to install additional public chargepoints in the future.

Unfortunately, we are unable to respond to individual survey submissions, and note that completing this form will not result in the council installing a chargepoint outside your property.
