Electric vehicle charging at home

Table of Contents

For residents with off-street parking available at their property, the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) offers the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme. This offers a grant of 75% (up to a maximum of £500) towards the cost of the purchase and installation of a charging point at your home.

For any grant application to be approved, OLEV require evidence of off-road parking, including vehicle crossover access. If you require a dropped kerb or 'crossover' to access your property, then you must ensure that this has been approved and completed before submitting your application to OLEV. Please see the dropped kerbs page for further information.

Electric vehicle users who do not have access to off-road parking must only charge their vehicle at a public charging point. To increase the take-up of electric vehicles, we are looking to provide on-street charging points in residential areas where properties have no off-street parking.

Express your interest in having an on-street charging point near you

While we are not currently able to install new on-street electric vehicle charging points, we are interested in where demand exists around the borough for any on-street charging points introduced in the future.

Express an interest in having a charging point installed on-street near your property by completing the following survey.

Note that this survey has been designed to help us understand where demand is, and it does not guarantee that a charging point will be installed at the suggested location.
