It is very difficult to isolate the effects of trees when assessing the possible cause of poor plant growth.

- As well as foxgloves, woodrush, box, holly, mahonia, daphne, hypericum, ruscus, vinca and ferns.
Soil type should also be considered when choosing plants for a garden.
