Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale neighbourhood plan

The Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale Neighbourhood Plan has been produced between 2011 and 2014 by volunteers from the local community for the parishes of Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale. The Plan includes a vision, site allocations and a suite of policies which apply to a range of development types in the neighbourhood area. The Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale neighbourhood plan was formally adopted by the borough council on Tuesday 29 April 2014.

Referendum

On Wednesday 5 February 2014, the Royal Borough approved the plan to proceed to referendum, following some modifications as recommended by an independent examiner.

The referendum was held on Thursday 27 March 2014 with a 91% vote in favour to make the neighbourhood plan part of the development plan for the borough and to be used in making decisions on planning applications in the neighbourhood area.

Background and associated documents

The Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale neighbourhood area was designated by Cabinet in March 2013, formalising the work that had been undertaken since early 2011 by the Steering Group. Work on the plan included a number of public consultations from September 2011 to early 2013.

Sunninghill and Ascot Parish Council, as the Qualifying Body, with support of Sunningdale Parish Council, undertook the six weeks pre-submission consultation in June to August 2013. The comments received in the consultation were considered in drafting the proposed plan for submission to the council.

The proposed plan was formally submitted to the Royal Borough in September 2013, and it was published for consultation by the Royal Borough for six weeks between Friday 4 October and Friday 15 November 2013.

The proposed plan and the comments received were sent to an Independent Examiner who considered the comments and the contents of the plan. Following the examination, which included a hearing on Wednesday 11 December 2013, the examiner found that the plan, subject to some modifications, met the basic conditions and recommended that it proceed to referendum.

Once the necessary changes were made, the Royal Borough approved the plan to proceed to referendum at the Windsor Rural Development Control Panel on Wednesday 5 February 2014.
