Become a Friend of Windsor & Royal Borough Museum
How it started
In 1991 a number of local historians and other interested members of the local community set up the Friends to campaign for a permanent home for the museum collection. The Friends main focus was finally realised when the museum opened in Windsor Guildhall in 2011.
The Friends are dedicated to making the history of the local area available to all. Their fundraising continues to support the museum collection, displays, events and activities. They have an annual programme of talks and social events. Members receive a newsletter three times a year.
Many of the Friends are also volunteers at the museum and help to greet visitors, conduct guided tours of Windsor Guildhall or help the public with their local history enquiries and research.
