Using recycling bins

Table of Contents

What can I put in my recycling bin?

We can take the following items:

  • Paper and cardboard;
  • Food tins and drinks cans, aerosol cans and tin foil;
  • Glass bottles and jars;
  • Plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays;
  • Food and drinks cartons.

Please wash any items that have contained food or drink. Flatten cardboard, crush tins, cans and plastic to fit as much as possible in your bin.

Please make sure you do not put any items that are not listed here in your recycling bin as we will not be able to empty it.

Can I put tissues in my recycling bin?

Please do not put tissues in your recycling bin. These should be bagged and placed in your rubbish bin. If they have been used by anyone with possible symptoms of COVID-19 they should be double bagged and not put out for collection for 72 hours.

Can I fill up my recycling bin with general waste?

No. This would contaminate your bin and it will not be emptied.

How can I fit more in my recycling bin?

Please flatten all cardboard boxes. Wash and squash all plastic packaging, tins and cans to free up as much space as possible in the recycling bin. You can also place one flattened cardboard box next to your recycling bin.
