Referendum Notice

In accordance with The Local Authorities (Referendums) (Petitions) (England) Regulations 2011, notice is hereby given that the verification number that is equal to 5% of the number of local government electors for the area of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead as shown in the electoral register having effect on 15 February 2020 is:

5,561

This verification number will have effect for the purposes of determining the validity of any petitions which are presented between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021 asking the council to hold a referendum on the question of whether it should change to operate an elected mayor and cabinet executive or the committee system instead.

The above number will apply to any petition submitted to the borough council before 31 March 2021. However, a new number will be published in February 2021 and if the new number is less than 5,561 then the new number will apply from the date it is published.
