Where does our Recycling go?


After your recycling is collected from the doorstep, it is taken to the Waste Transfer Station, Stafferton Way, Maidenhead. All recycling is then transported to Rainham MRF (Materials Recovery Facility) in Essex, after which, the recycling manufacturing process begins...

Then, the separated recyclables are taken away to start their recycling adventure..


Mixed Paper & Cardboard

Mixed Paper & Cardboard - Material is collected and then taken to Uxbridge, Middlesex where it is baled. The baled material is then processed at Chatham, Kent and finally used as cardboard inserts for the UK market.

Mixed Glass

Mixed Glass - Material is collected and then taken to Days Aggregatein Brentford, Middlesex where it's used in their concrete to make paving slabs.

Plastic Bottles

Plastic Bottles - Material is sent to Closed Loop Recycling, Dagenham, Essex. The plastic is ground into flakes, washed and then melted and turned into pellets for manufacturing.

Food Tins, Drink Cans & Aerosols

Food Tins, Drink Cans & Aerosols - Material is separated at Rainham MRF, Essex into Ferrous and Aluminium streams. Ferrous material is sent to scrap metal brokers AMG, Hartlepool, Clevelandand Aluminium is sent to Novelis recycling plant in Warrington, Cheshire.

Garden Waste

Garden Waste - Collected from Green Waste bins and HWRC and taken to Little Bushy Warren, Hampshire where it is shredded, put into rows and turned for 12 weeks to become Pro-grow products such as peat-free compost and soil conditioner.
