Subscribed Garden Waste Collection Service - Frequently Asked Questions

The existing appointment service for green waste does not include a separate charge to individuals - the costs are recovered from council tax, which is payable by all local residents. With the new subscribed green waste service the costs are recovered directly from the customer through an annual subscription.

The existing appointment service for green waste was intially established as an add-on service to enable residents to dispose of bulk garden waste on a seasonal, infrequent basis. It was enhanced in 2006 to enable collections to be made within a three-week window after making the appointment. The scheme has been subject to heavy demand, predominantly due to individuals making multiple and block bookings.

It is anticipated that the new subscribed service will remove the burden on the appointment service, allowing it to operate as it was initially set up ie as a bulk seasonal collection service.
