Refuse Collection

The Council provides a weekly waste collection service to all domestic properties. Households are issued with a standard 180 litre sized bin, this may differ for multi occupancy buildings.

Your refuse is currently sent to landfill, last year it cost the council just under £2.7 million to send non-recyclables to landfill. Landfill is an enormous waste of resources and very harmful to the environment, releasing a third of the UK's methane emissions, a gas 21 times more potent than Carbon Dioxide! Fortunately, by using your weekly recycling service you can help reduce this problem. For more information on the Council's weekly recycling collection service click here.

The service is currently provided by private sector contractors Veolia. The Council's Waste Management Unit monitors the contractor to ensure a reliable and high quality service.

The Council does not directly provide a trade or business waste service. Refuse collections from commercial and industrial premises are available from several private companies. A charge will be made for this service.

If you have any questions regarding refuse in general take a look at our FAQ page, or e-mail waste.unit@rbwm.gov.uk or call 01628 683801.
