The only information stored on the Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) tag is a number which identifies it as belonging to an address. This enables the collection vehicle to track your recycling participation and ensure you receive the reward points you're entitled to. The tag does NOT record the names of members of the household, the contents of the bin or any other information. We may collect general information about the recycling scheme at an area-wide level so we can measure our progress in reducing waste.
Protecting your privacy
The Royal Borough wants to reassure you that we take your right to privacy very seriously indeed. Absolutely no personal details are held on the tag in the wheelie bin. It is only when you choose to take part in the RecycleBank scheme by activating your secure RecycleBank account that the weight of recycling in your blue bin is converted into points for your household so that you can claim the rewards you have earned. We encourage you to read RecycleBank's privacy and data protection policy.
