Each property is provided with two recycling boxes for the collection of materials each week.
Collections are made on the same day as the refuse each week and are made by a dedicated recycling vehicle.
The PURPLE boxes will be for:
glass bottles and jars (all colours)
cans - both steel and aluminium
plastic bottles - including milk, shampoo, detergent, fizzy drinks and water
bottles.
The BLACK boxes will be for:
paper and cardboard only - including newspapers, magazines, catalogues,
directories, cereal packets, envelopes, junk mail, cards, office paper and
brochures.
Please try to make sure that materials left in the boxes are as secure as possible so that they do not get blown away when left out for collection.
It is currently not possible to collect the following items using the household collection scheme:
Foil and textiles - these can be taken to recycling centres within the area.
Polystyrene, plastic bags, plastic film, food trays, yoghurt pots,
margarine & ice cream tubs and drink cartons - due to limited markets
within the UK only certain types of plastics can be collected and successfully
recycled.
