'C' of A to Z of Waste Disposal

Cans -
Both aluminium and steel cans can be recycled using the household recycling box, or at public recycling sites across the area. For a list of all bring sites and the materials they accept please use the link at the bottom of this page.

Cardboard -
Please flatten cardboard boxes and put them into ( or next to ) the household recycling box. Alternatively they can be put into the paper banks at public recycling sites. A list of sites and the materials they accept is available via the link at the bottom of the this page.

Carpets -
Household furniture ( including carpets ) can be deposited at the Civic Amenity Site at Stafferton Way in Maidenhead. Alternatively, the Council can make a collection of up to five items of household furniture for a charge. Full details of this service are available via the link provided at the bottom of this page.

Carrier Bags -
These can be reused on the next shopping trip or make good liners for pedal bins.

Cartons -
Paper based liquid drinks cartons can now be placed in specially provided containers at the recycling sites provided at:
Magnet Leisure Centre, Holmanleaze, Maidenhead;
Stafferton Way, Maidenhead;
Tinkers Lane, Windsor;
Windsor Leisure Centre, Stovell Road, Windsor
Grange Car Park, High Street, Ascot.

Chemicals -
A special secure container is available for the disposal of small amounts of leftover chemicals, that may be used around the home, at the Civic Amenity Site at Stafferton Way, Maidenhead. These may include white spirit, bleach, paints, varnish, paint brush cleaners, descalers, stain removers, drain cleaners, glues, photographic chemicals, oven cleaners, swimming pool cleaners, pesticides, lawn treatments, weed killers, wood preservative, anti-freeze, brake fluids and lubricants.
A specialist contractor must be employed to dispose of larger quantities.

Christmas Cards -
These can be recycled using the household recycling box or taken to Boots or the Post Office where collection bins are provided in January.

Christmas Trees -
The Council provides collection points throughout the Borough in January. The trees are collected and then composted. Details of collection points are advertised in local newspapers before Christmas.

Civic Amenity Sites -
A Civic Amenity Site is provided at Stafferton Way in Maidenhead where residents are able to deposit household waste free of charge using their own private vehicle. Further details of this facility can be found using the link at the bottom of this page.

Clinical Waste -
The Council provides a collection service for clinical waste from private households. Further details are available using the link listed at the bottom of this page.

Clothes -
Old or unwanted clothes and shoes can be given to local charities or jumble sales. Alternatively many of the public recycling centres across the Borough have textile recycling containers. For a list of all bring sites and the materials which they will accept please use the link at the bottom of this page.

Computers -
Residents can dispose of old computers at the Civic Amenity Site, Stafferton Way, Maidenhead. A specific collection area is provided and old units are either reused or recycled.
