The Council's Trading Standards Service is committed to achieving a fair and safe trading environment to benefit local residents, businesses and visitors to the area. In practice this means that the service advises on and enforces a wide range of laws which mainly relate to the quality, quantity, price, description and safety of goods and services supplied by businesses. By advising on and enforcing these laws we can help protect the interests of both consumers and respectable businesses. The key areas we cover include giving advice on legal rights if you find out you have bought counterfeit or unsafe goods, are given short measures, or feel your purchase was misrepresented in some way.

Other issues we handle include consumer credit agreements, advertising, holiday complaints, sale of alcohol and tobacco to children, and unroadworthy motor vehicles. We also deal with weights and measures, firework safety, misleading prices or descriptions, overloaded vehicles and small claims procedures and much more.

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead operates a Customer Service Centre which deals with all initial Trading Standards enquiries.
