Trees Frequently Asked Questions

To find out if a tree is protected, either by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO), by Planning Conditions, a Section 106 Agreement, or is situated in a Conservation Area, please contact the Tree Team on tel: 01628 796134 or email: trees@rbwm.gov.uk. As some of these checks have to be referred to the Planning Department, it may take up to 10 working days before we are able to get back to you.

Trees may also be subject to other types of protection, such as by the Hedgerow Regulations 1997 and the Forestry Act 1967.

Further details can be found in our 'Customer Guide to Planning - Tree legislation and Procedures pdf.

If you would like a copy of a TPO, please write in to the:

Planning Department, Town Hall, St. Ives Road, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 1RF, specifying the number of the TPO (eg. 12 of 2004) and the address where the trees are situated. You will need to enclose a cheque for £25 made payable to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Please also include your contact telephone number in case we have a query.
