The Royal Borough of Winsdor & Maidenhead produced the final version of its Local Transport Plan (LTP) in March 2006. Hardcopies are available to view in all Borough libraries and PDF versions of the LTP and Annexes are available on our website to view or download. Additionally, hardcopy versions of the LTP and Annexe documents may be purchased for £30 each from the Transport Policy Team (Tel. 01628 796115).
IntroductionThe LTP represents a 5-year strategy and implementation plan for transport in the Royal Borough, covering the period from 2006/07 to 2010/11. It sets out how we intend to work towards achieving our long-term vision for transport, developed in association with local stakeholders.
ObjectivesThe objectives for the LTP are consistent with national and regional priorities, namely:
The strategy has been developed around the following core components:
The capital programme has been developed to deliver the preferred LTP Strategy, concentrating funding and resources on those measures that are considered to offer the best value for money and are likely to make the most rapid progress towards the desired targets and outcomes.
Much of the Borough's expenditure on local transport initiatives is revenue based. The capital investment strategy is designed to provide a basis that is complimentary to and supportive of the significant revenue expenditure that is invested in transport services each year. Effectively, our approach is to seek to maximise progress towards LTP objectives and outcomes, irrespective of the funding source being capital or revenue, and by maximising the use of external funding.
Strategic Environmental AssessmentThe Borough commissioned a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) to identify the environmental impacts of the LTP strategy and programme. As part of this process, an SEA Statement has been prepared to provide information on the decision-making process and to document how environmental considerations, the views of consultees and the recommendations of the Environmental Report have been taken into account in the adopted LTP. Hardcopies of this document are available to view in the Borough's libraries and a PDF version of the SEA Statement is available on-line to view or download.
Further WorkIt is anticipated that the LTP will continue to evolve over the coming 5-year period. In particular, the Accessibility Strategy and the Air Quality Action Plan will be the subjects of significant development work. The Council will also seek to respond positively to challenges that may arise and will seek to involve all relevant stakeholders in developing and implementing effective solutions, informed by public consultation where appropriate.
