Resurfacing Programme Frequently Asked Questions

Patching involves cutting into the surface around the area of the pothole and removing the damaged surface. New material is then laid into the hole and compacted to repair the area of damage.

This technique is used when there are localised areas of damage that do not require the entire road to be resurfaced. Very often patching is carried out prior to Surface Dressing when there are areas of increased damage to the road surface that Surface Dressing cannot remedy.
