Cycle Helmets

Here are our tips for choosing and fitting a cycle helmet:


  1. Cycle HelmetBuy a new helmet (rather than a second-hand one).
  2. Check it meets one of these approved Safety Test Standards: BS EN 1078, SNELL B-95, AS/NZS 2063.
  3. Match your helmet to your head size (measure your head about 2.5cm above your eyebrows).
  4. Try on your helmet placing it squarely on your head about 2.5cm above your eyebrows.
  5. Fasten the chinstrap. It should rest under your chin, not on your jaw-line, and should be easy to fasten and adjust.
  6. The helmet should not move when you nod you head.
